Application Form

Main goals: To protect the environmental, communal and personal health through cycling, to create the conditions required for a healthy community, to improve life quality, to protect the environment in terms of local and global aspects, to provide cultural exchange, to help bring peace to our country and to the world, to integrate sport and tourism through cycling which is a nature friendly sport; to protect and improve nature and the local culture through sport in our province which has a great cultural heritage and a great variety of touristic values, to organise this tour in Mugla in a festival atmosphere every year and make it become an international, traditional meeting, to get sports people and bicycle enthusiasts from the sister towns of the towns on the tour route invited in this meeting.

Blue skies diving into turquoise waters, beehives scattered on the green slopes of pine trees, fields of white cotton, minarets hovering over stone houses, a call for prayer in the vast land of olive trees, chai and halva on the table, gulzeme on my plate and ayran in my glass, – Turkey unfolds from the seat of my bicycle. To complete the vision I add my fellow CCE travelers in their colorful jerseys, sitting around a table by the road and happily devouring the delicacies of Turkish cooking.

It was the tour time after emailing via the internet for months. Some American cyclists were interested in a biking tour in my country. Osman whom I have met  thanks to  my journal in deltabisiklet  webpage, lives in America and we have emailed each other  many times  to make a decision about the route we will follow.

After a long day cycling the supermarket was visited. The four tired men had allready found a place to spend the night, at the teachershouse it was. A cheap but clean state run hotel for teachers only. And since the three Turks were lecturing at a university they perfectly fit in. The fourth, a greedy Dutchman who came all the way from Holland, could crash on the balcony, for free off course. Cycling the hilly Black Sea coast doesn’t only cause a painfull ars, it also takes a lot of effort. To compensate for all this energy loss piles of food need to be given to the body. A cyclists synonime for eating much. And therefor provisions were stocked for next mornings breakfast.
